Terrors of the Abyss and Humanity's Crisis: 5 Deadly SCP Entities
Discover famous SCP entities including SCP-1128, SCP-682, SCP-173, SCP-2317, and SCP-096.

Quick Answer
The SCP Foundation (Secure, Contain, Protect) isolates all kinds of bizarre and deadly anomalous entities in the dark that threaten humanity's normal way of life.
Some entities claim lives in the blink of an eye, while others herald the end of the world as they break their chains.
Today, we introduce 5 major SCP entities from the Foundation's database that are among the most terrifying, fascinating, and threatening to the very survival of humanity.
1. Anywhere There Is Water: SCP-1128 (Aquatic Horror)
Depiction of SCP-1128
SCP-1128 is an infohazard entity (a phenomenon where simply knowing the information becomes dangerous) taking the form of a massive aquatic predator living in the deep sea.
If a person sees or hears a description of this creature's full appearance through text, speech, or drawings, that individual becomes exposed to its horrific anomaly.
Once someone learns of its appearance, touching even shallow bodies of water—such as a glass of water or a puddle of rainwater, not to mention oceans or swimming pools where one cannot fully submerge—will instantly pull them into the unknown ocean depths where SCP-1128 resides to be devoured.
For this reason, the Foundation strictly censors and redacts all information regarding the entity's appearance to maintain containment.
2. Hard-to-Destroy Reptile: SCP-682
Inactivated state of SCP-682
SCP-682 is one of the most dangerous and difficult-to-neutralize hostile entities. It resembles a massive, horrific reptile and is an entity of completely unknown origin.
Key traits of this entity include high intelligence, an endless hatred for all life, and near-invincible regenerative abilities that render it impossible to kill under any circumstances.
Animation of SCP-682
Even if 87% of its body is destroyed or exposed to lethal chemicals, it regenerates almost instantly, and even evolves its body to adapt to attacking weapons or environmental hazards. The Foundation has made numerous attempts to completely terminate (neutralize) this entity, but all have failed. Currently, to slow down its regeneration, its entire body is submerged in a tank of highly corrosive hydrochloric acid under strict monitoring.

3. Never Avert Your Eyes: SCP-173 (The Sculpture)
Contained SCP-173
SCP-173 is the most iconic entity representing the SCP Foundation, featuring one of the tensest containment procedures.
Constructed from concrete and rebar with traces of Krylon brand spray paint, it takes the form of a bizarre humanoid sculpture.
This entity is alive and extremely hostile toward humans. However, it possesses a critical weakness and characteristic: it cannot move as long as direct eye contact is maintained.
Because it can close the distance instantly and snap a neck in the brief moment of a blink, personnel entering its containment chamber must announce their blinks to each other in advance to survive.
4. The Seventh Chain of Doom: SCP-2317 (A Door to Another World)
SCP-2317 sealed in another dimensional space
SCP-2317 is a terrifying entity that portends the end of the world. On the surface, it appears to be an ordinary wooden door, but opening it leads to an alternate dimension featuring a barren salt desert.
At the center of that dimension, a gargantuan entity known as the "Devourer of Worlds" is bound and sealed by seven massive chains.
The issue is that six of these seven chains have already snapped, leaving only a single chain precariously holding it.
Predicted end of Earth caused by SCP-2317
The Foundation pretends to perform complex religious rituals to prevent this final chain from breaking, but in truth, the ritual is a fake with no actual effect.
On the day the last chain breaks, humanity will face inevitable destruction, and the Foundation can do nothing but watch as the approaching end draws near.
5. Pursues to the End if You See Its Face: SCP-096 ("The Shy Guy")
SCP-096 "The Shy Guy"
SCP-096 is an entity possessing a terrifying tracking ability, also known as "The Shy Guy."
It is an emaciated humanoid entity standing approximately 2.38 m tall, with very little muscle mass and pale skin. Normally, it paces docilely while facing a wall or makes crying sounds while covering its face.
However, if someone views this entity's "face," the situation turns horrific. Whether viewed directly with the naked eye or as a single pixel in a photograph or video, it enters a state of extreme emotional distress and rage. It then charges toward the observer at furious speeds to tear them apart without a trace, and no physical barrier—whether deep underwater or outer space—can stop its pursuit.
Awe-Inspiring and Terrifying Anomalies
| Object Class | Entity | Key Characteristics | Critical Containment Protocols |
|---|---|---|---|
| Keter | SCP-1128 (Aquatic Horror) | Drags anyone who knows its appearance into water | All access to information regarding entity's appearance strictly prohibited |
| Keter | SCP-682 (Hard-to-Destroy Reptile) | Extreme regeneration and hostility toward all life | Must remain completely submerged in hydrochloric acid tank |
| Euclid | SCP-173 (The Sculpture) | Cannot move while under direct line of sight | Never break eye contact or approach alone |
| Apollyon | SCP-2317 (A Door to Another World) | Seals a gargantuan entity that will bring end of the world | Virtually uncontainable (postponing total doom) |
| Euclid | SCP-096 ("The Shy Guy") | Pursues relentlessly if its face is viewed | Never view face directly or in photographs |
From Euclid and Keter to the Apollyon class—which signifies a virtually unstoppable cataclysm—these entities reveal the horrifying flip side of paranormal phenomena: the collapse of physical laws and common sense.
From monsters dealing instant death to beings heralding inevitable doom, these entities recorded in classified databases represent the truth of the world that the Foundation confronts alone in the darkness.
